Recipe of the Week: Chocolate Gravy

So I can just hear some of you as you exclaim, "Chocolate gravy!  Gross!"
But I am here to tell you that chocolate gravy is awesome!  It's really not healthy but it is a great occasional breakfast treat.  I make it mostly for special occasions.  Christmas morning, birthday breakfasts, that kind of special.  It is really simple to make and is served over warm biscuits. I can remember my grandmother, Vivian, making this for me and my sisters when we stayed at her house.  It brings back good memories and good feelings.  I hope it does the same for my kids.

Chocolate Gravy
6 servings

Ingredients:
1 stick butter
4 tablespoons Hershey's cocoa powder
1/4 cup flour
3/4 cup sugar
2 cups milk

In a medium sized skillet melt the butter.  FYI--these pictures are of the recipe doubled...I had company.

Then add flour, cocoa and sugar.  Stir to make a paste.

Then pour in milk and stir until thickened.

Get ready to fall in love with chocolate gravy!

  2. Awesome! Have you seen Chocolat (or read the book)? At one point, the main character serves a meal with chocolate in every serving -- including chocolate gravy! I didn't think it was possible...until now! Thanks for sharing. I'm totally going to try this. :)
