But I am here to tell you that chocolate gravy is awesome! It's really not healthy but it is a great occasional breakfast treat. I make it mostly for special occasions. Christmas morning, birthday breakfasts, that kind of special. It is really simple to make and is served over warm biscuits. I can remember my grandmother, Vivian, making this for me and my sisters when we stayed at her house. It brings back good memories and good feelings. I hope it does the same for my kids.
Chocolate Gravy
6 servings
Ingredients:
1 stick butter
4 tablespoons Hershey's cocoa powder
1/4 cup flour
3/4 cup sugar
2 cups milk
In a medium sized skillet melt the butter. FYI--these pictures are of the recipe doubled...I had company.
Then add flour, cocoa and sugar. Stir to make a paste.
Then pour in milk and stir until thickened.
Get ready to fall in love with chocolate gravy!
Oh yummy! This is the exact recipe I use and LOVE!! I think it may be our dinner one night this week...
ReplyDeleteAwesome! Have you seen Chocolat (or read the book)? At one point, the main character serves a meal with chocolate in every serving -- including chocolate gravy! I didn't think it was possible...until now! Thanks for sharing. I'm totally going to try this. :)
ReplyDeleteOoh, I'll have to make this for my husband who doesn't like gravy. :)
